Last night was the "Nit de Reis" ("Twelfth Night") for Catalonia and the rest of Spain, when according to tradition, the three wise men from the East who went to worship Jesus child give gifts to all children who have behaved well and coal to the children who have misbehaved. To complete the post I published two years ago on the same subject, here I leave the sketches and the final illustration that I made at the time.
Ayer por la noche fue la "Noche de Reyes" para Cataluña y el resto de España, cuando según la tradición, los tres reyes magos venidos de Oriente que fueron a adorar al niño Jesús dan regalos a todos los niños que se han portado bien y carbón a los que se han portado mal. Para completar el post que publiqué hace dos años sobre el mismo tema, aquí os dejo los bocetos y la ilustración final que hice por aquel entonces.
Aquesta nit passada fou la "Nit de Reis" a Catalunya i la resta d'Espanya, on segons la tradició els tres reis mags vinguts d'Orient que anaren a adorar el nen Jesús reparteixen regals a tots els nens que s'han portat bé i carbó als qui s'han portat malament. Per completar el post que vaig publicar fa dos anys sobre el mateix tema, aquí us deixo els esbossos i la il·lustració final que vaig realitzar en aquella ocasió.

Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar are supposed to be their names according to tradition. They were also supposed to represent all known lands (Europe, Asia and Africa) at the time, so I finally wanted to represent them as a Sami shaman, an Indian prince and an Ethiopian warrior. They are also said to represent the three ages of man: youth, maturity and old age.
Melchor, Gaspar y Baltasar se supone que eran sus nombres según la tradición. También se supone que ellos representaban a todas las tierras por aquel entonces conocidas (Europa, Ásia y África), por lo que al fin quise representarlos como a un chaman sami, un príncipe indio y un guerrero etíope. También se dice que simbolizaban las tres edades del hombre: juventud, madurez y vejez.
Melcior, Gaspar i Baltasar es suposa que eren els seus noms segons la tradició. També se suposa que representaven a totes les terres en aquell moment conegudes (Europa, Àsia i Àfrica), de manera que a la fi vaig voler representar-los com a un xaman sami, un príncep indi i un guerrer etíop. També es diu que representaven les tres edats de l'home: joventut, maduresa i vellesa.
