In Egyptian mythology, the god Osiris, grandchild of the Sun-god Ra, was the first one to hold the title of Pharaoh. His brother Seth, the belligerent god of War, Deserts and Sandstorms, didn't think Osiris was fit for such an honor so, despite being a god, he managed to kill him by desmembering him, becoming Osiris then in the sovereign of the Afterlife and the Dead. Osiris' wife, Isis, the goddess of Magic, however managed to rebuild her husband's body. That made Osiris also the first creature to be mummified. Even under these conditions, Isis even managed to conceive a child with her deceased husband: the young god Horus, the falcon-god of Sky and Kingship. When Horus reached a certain age, he faced his uncle Seth in various labours and battles until he managed to defeat him, reestablishing the correct order of succession.
