Fulfilling the mandate of the previous day's survey at my Instagram account (@warlike_hermit), here is an illustration of literary origin: Grendel, the antagonist of the Anglo-Saxon epic poem 'Beowulf', the oldest manuscript poem written in Old English. Described as a large monstruous creature thirsty for blood, in the same poem we are told that Grendel is a descendant of the cursed line of Cain himself. Also inhabitant of desolate landscaps and marshes, Grendel will doom his fate when he faces the hero and warrior Beowulf, who in a single combat will manage to kill him by tearing off his arm.

Descrito como una gran criatura monstruosa sedienta de sangre, en el mismo poema se nos dice que Grendel es un descendiente de la línea maldita del mismísimo Caín. Habitante también de parajes desolados y humedales, Grendel sellará su destino cuando se enfrente al héroe y guerrero Beowulf, quien, en un combate singular, conseguirá matarlo arrancándole un brazo.
